If you’ve been keeping up with the internet, then you already know about social bookmarking sites such as Digg, Del.ici.ous, Magnolia and Reddit. Those sites allow you to share your bookmarks with friends and to keep your bookmarks online (no more worries about computer crashes.)

Gradually, niche social bookmarking websites hit the scene. One example you may have read about here is Good Reads and marketing your poetry book. Good Reads is a site where you can share and rate your recently read books with others.

Now, for artists, MyArtInfo allows artists to showcase their work, chat with each other and blog.

Why on earth would you need more, or any, blogging tools?

One of the goals of MyArtInfo is to provide a global way to showcase your art. At first, I figured they meant only visual artists and was pleased to be wrong. The site will allow such disciplines as performing arts, film, poetry, sculpture, fashion, architecture, and design

What made these results different were the additional options on the side. To the right, I could select images related to my search. On the left, more specific search terms were suggested. If there had been video, that would have been offered.

A search for “poetry magazine” gave me relevant lists of poetry magazines, poetry videos on the right and images of beautiful poetry magazine covers.

The search results are…pretty and engaging. I look at so many websites all day long. Pretty matters.

The past eight weeks have been so…full.

Today, I took soup and salad to a friend who just had a baby. I held the newborn for about an hour. We all sat on the shady back porch and enjoyed how the light turned golden as it came through the translucent porch roof. The hour with this friend flew as did the hour before when I went out to coffee with another friend. I enjoyed holding the baby yet have no desire to have another. I like sleeping.

I’m not working in a full-time way, and I am taking the time to visit with friends I’ve not seen as much as I would like.

It’s amazing how busy you can be when you do not have a full-time job. I took internet marketing training, wrote web content to test the viability of niches, and met a bunch of people. I am also doing some part-time web content writing and marketing work for various clients. Of course, I’m also meeting with potential clients and applying for jobs that sound perfect given my goals.

What I’ve liked best about the past few weeks has been meeting new people. It made me realize I’ve been somewhat sequestered. When I work all day, my priority is coming home to see O. Now that I have days available, I have time to socialize. It’s lovely to reconnect.

The past few months have been difficult for a lot of reasons I won’t go into here, yet good friends and a supportive community have helped me get through the worst of it. I am grateful for that.

It must have been insanity that encouraged me to agree to another NaPoWriMo, though I am calling it The 30 Day Poetry Challenge (30DPC) instead.

One way I’ve saved (started to save?) some time is to subscribe to all the blogs I read via Bloglines. Oh, it is heavenly.

I am a poem behind in The 30DPC, and it’s the only first day. Let’s summarize and say only that it was a busy first day of August.

Pretty soon, you might be able to subscribe to this blog via bloglines or yahoo or google or feedburner, etc. Expect a redesign of this site soon.

For today, I bring you an E-Prime writing assignment. Write a poem without the verb “to be.”

To make it more interesting, include the name of one architectural detail and (in honor of Annie Dillard’s Tinker Creek) one slightly uncommon insect.

If you are brave, post your result in the comments section and let us see what you created.

Many of you have no idea what I do for a living.

I’m a search engine marketer. I help businesses get found on the web by their clients, and this often means good pay-per-click campaigns or a top 10 search rank on Google.

Recently, one of my clients was lower in the Google search rankings than a competitor. This competitor was using keywords that were barely legal (using stolen content) and that were in direct competition with my client. So…

In the background, I’ve been working to get my client higher on search results than the competitor. If the competitor disappears forever, even better.

In the past week, bingo! My client now has the highest positions, and the quality of the search on those keywords is better. The top 6 (out of 10) now go to web pages associated with my client. All right!

I’m also considering contacting Google to let them know that the competitor has stolen content on their web site. Oh, yes. I am a web geek.
