Print is the real deal, poetry online is good but it lacks the ability to caress. I am filled with admiration for independent publishers, I have recently posted on my blog to this effect. I try to subscribe to as many indie zines as possible to support this courageous industry. We have a great exchange rate at the moment so $US14 converted to $AUD15.97 through paypal, look forward to seeing 32poems in my real mailbox. Regards,

Well I've just been to a lively writers' centre committee meeting this evening where discussion focussed on the efforts of a local bookshop to indulge market of reader/writer in the twenties and thirties age bracket. For a relatively small city, the bookshop's doing alright in this area - they've three hundred signed up and have begun holding meetings where it's not uncommon for eighty to attend. 'And what might be the outcome?' I asked. 'Publication? In printed form? Why not on the net?' No, not the net, was the answer. 'Their interest is mainly in the printed form; something they can hold, something not so ephemeral that it'll be forgotten next month.' (etc). These are thoughts I wonder on cos I publish a print journal too, albeit with a (more limited) web presence - and a heartening response.
